Hollow Lantern
★★★★★ 4.5
Hollow Lantern is slow in the way I want an adventure game to be. You wander through overgrown ruins with a lantern, solving small environmental puzzles and piecing together what happened here. There's almost no text; the world tells the story.
Movement is a virtual stick and a single interact button, and that simplicity fits perfectly. I played most of it in bed with one hand. The audio design does a lot of heavy lifting — headphones are worth it.
It's short, maybe four hours, but I didn't want padding. The pacing and mood stuck with me for days after.
